We kinda just stumbled across this while walking the beltline trail. Soooooo fun! This is great for the whole family, date night, friends, everyone! We enjoyed the Horizon of Khufu: An Immersive VR Expedition to Ancient Egypt experience and it was really cool and informative. Tickets were $43 at the door for adults, but afterward I noticed they are about $10 cheaper if you prepurchase them online. The pricing fluctuates with time of day, and children up to 17, students and military, are a few dollars cheaper than the standard ticket price. While on the website I noticed they also have a NY location so I would be more inclined to check that out for a return visit as it's much closer to home. But the upcoming dinosaur experience at Illuminarium Atl sounds awesome. 8/10

I am surprised at the low rated reviews at Illuminarium. I didn't read any before going myself and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Firstly where you park is on the opposite side of where it is. They offer valet that is very inexpensive. The entrance is down the walkway closer to the beltline. I did book online with the time slot I wanted. They scanned my pre-purchase my ticket and had me sign a wavier. This is so if you walk into someone else they aren't liable . After that walked right in, got instructions, setup my avatar, got my vr headset and I was on my way. The whole experience is about 45 minutes I think. You get so lost in it (in a good way). Each staff member I encountered during my time there was pleasant. I would go back for sure with this current experience or the others they plan to bring.

Yesterday I had my first virtual reality experience at Illuminarium. We went to the Horizon of Khufu: An Immersive VR Expedition to Ancient Egypt. I didn't know what to expect because this was never on my radar to try. I must say that my friend and I had a great time. As first timers, the staff was friendly and answered all of our questions. I strongly recommend their suggestion of using the restroom before starting the experience because it last for about 45 minutes. The glasses that are used for the experience are comfortable and adjustable. I found the whole thing to be interesting and educational. However, if you have motion sickness or a fear of heights, this immersive experience may be a lot for you. It's still hard to imagine that the experience took place in one large room. I definitely recommend it if you are looking to try something new. Parking is inexpensive. It's about $5 for three hours. The attraction is on the Atlanta Beltline so there are lots of restaurants and bars that you can enjoy once done.

My brother and I treated our Dad to the Egyptian Khufu virtual reality experience at the Illuminarium space. The staff were friendly and efficient. They take time to explain how the virtual reality experience works and the rules for the pathway. The virtual reality headset is comfortable and accommodating for people that wear eyeglasses. The Khufu experience exceeds our expectations and it's educational and fun. The bathroom is spacious and clean and can be accessed by people with mobility issues. Parking is available for $3 per hour in the adjacent brewery area or you can valet park. There is not any free parking. If you park on a side street then you risk having the windows smashed. The venue is walkable to dozens of restaurants and bars so if you paid for parking then invest time to dine at an adjacent restaurant. We recommend Buena Vida tapas which is reviewed separately.
